Abstract

Motivation is an impulse that arises in a person consciously or unconsciously to take action with the aim of moving or someone to arise a desire to do something so that they can get results or achieve certain goals. While the effective communication framework used in hospitals is SBAR communication (Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation), this communication method is used when nurses do handovers to patients. The research design with a descriptive correlation approach with a cross sectional design, a population of 32 midwives, using probability sampling techniques with a type of random sampling symple, a sample of 30 midwives who met the inclusion criteria. The research instrument used a questionnaire and observation sheets and then analyzed with the Spearman correlation test and obtained Sig. (2-tailed) 0,000 < α 0,05. So it was concluded that H1 was accepted, namely there was a relationship between the work motivation of midwives and the application of effective communication (SBAR). Work motivation affects the application of effective communication (SBAR) in health services. This research can be a study material in communicating about the efforts of patient safety in hospitals that are related to the work motivation of midwives and the application of effective communication (SBAR)
