Abstract

Sexual violence against children is an act that causes harm to children both physically and emotionally. Sexual violence cases that occur in Indonesia are due to the lack of provision of sex education that should have been given early on by parents. The role of parents in providing sex education to children has not been well conveyed, which is influenced by various factors. The purpose of this study was to determine the determinant role of mothers in sex education in early childhood. Analytical survey research design with cross sectional approach, in PAUD Mutiara Bunda Malang. The number of samples of 39 was determined by total sampling technique. Collecting data using a questionnaire with the Spearman Rank statistical test. The results showed that 66.7% of respondents did not get information on sex education, 76.9% had never had sex education experience, 48.7% had moderate interest in sex education, and 46.2% had a good role in sex education. The results of data analysis showed a p-value <0.05, which means that information, experience and interests have a relationship with the role of mothers in sex education in early childhood. The most dominant factor is the interest factor. High interest will make mothers play a good role in sex education so that children can avoid sexual deviations and violence.
